Goodnight from Jessica Lee Smith on October 29th, 2015

Good night everyone.

Thursday night is a night out for many people, so if you’re heading out, please be careful on the roads. We hope everyone is feeling well tonight and that this post finds you well.

I wanted to touch on the topic of Empathy and Compassion. Somewhere along the line, it seems the world has lost a lot of these two most essential attributes. Without empathy and compassion, we are less than human. Even our pets are humane and loving. I don’t know when this all started. I only know that the world is hurting a lot without a stronger sense of the two.

All over the world and even in our own neighborhoods, people are hurting each other in the most horrific ways. It’s no longer something that’s not happening in massive scales to the innocents either. Little children even, across the globe are being hurt beyond what words can describe.

There’s not a day that goes by now that we don’t hear or read, or even witness acts of violence, evil or just people not speaking out for justice. What has happened to our world ? It needs to stop.

Thank God there are still beacons of kindness out there, although they too are faced with great adversity. Thank God for people like you, our friends out there reading, who are living lives filled with the compassion and empathy that so much of the world is void of.  I am thankful that there is a movement happening amongst many, extending small and large acts of kindness toward others. That is our saving grace right now. Let’s pray to God that this movement grows, and that by each person who brings light to the world, the greater good may start to feel that wave and flow with it.

Let’s pray for peace, everyone. Let’s pray for a kinder world.

No lives will go in vain. No pain will go unnoticed.
Amen.
