The Dog and Cat Meat Trade by Dr. Harp Seal

Good evening friends.  Just below here is the Audio Message, click to listen.   Or if you prefer to read it, the text version is just below the audio.

Good evening friends. Dr. Harp Seal here. Thank you for stopping by.

Tonight I am going to talk about the Dog and Cat meat trade throughout Asia. Folks this is not for the faint of heart. But hearing about this is a small price to pay for the horrors inflicted on these innocent animals.A friend of mine from the UK helped me put this together. She is one of those behind the scenes people you may not hear of, but makes a substantial difference. And to her credit, she was much more knowledgeable on this hard to bear topic than myself. The countries most prevalent in this trade are China, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, The Philippines, Cambodia and several others. Needless to say China is one of the biggest offenders of animal cruelty on the planet. They are nothing short of barbaric when it comes to animals.

Many of us by now have heard of the Yulin dog meat Festival in Yulin China. Keep in mind cats are part of this festival as well, and no less important whatsoever. This festival brought the Dog and Cat meat trade into mainstream media. Dogs and cats from several other countries are stolen and brought to Yulin. Many stray dogs and unsold animals in pet shops end up in Yulin. Let’s talk about their travels to this hell on Earth Festival. They are in cramped cages, crushed to the point of defending themselves by biting each other, exposed to summer heat and dehydrated. When they reach their destination, they are lifted from cages by the neck with long metal tongs, bludgeoned several times to the head with a metal bar or wooden baton which doesn’t kill them right away, just disorients them so these savage people can get the job done with less resistance. Then their throats are slit or chest stabbed depending on how they want the speed of the blood to come out. Sometimes they are thrown in spinning machines that remove their fur, this means boiling water thrown in with them while many of the animals are still alive.

There was a 600 year old festival in China where dogs were let loose around town, chased by the public, beaten to death with sticks and boiled alive. This tradition was cancelled in 2011 by the government. To be honest, from where Sammy & Family sits, Yulin doesn’t seem any better.  China thinks Dogs are great for good health, and improve the blood flow. Many believe a dog dying in fear and pain increases the taste because of the adrenaline racing through their bodies.

The general Dog and Cat meat trade, meaning not Yulin Festival time, is not any better.  Market traders of the meats, will sometimes skin them while warm & concussed. In some places in China, dogs are hung by a hook through the neck all day to slowly die before skinning. Also there is evidence of paws being cut off so the dogs can’t escape & slowly bleeds to death.

Now lets take it to South Korea. They have “ 3 dog eating days of Summer” I believe or that’s what it is. Here it’s a common practice to electrocute the dogs and throw them in the fur removal machines with boiling water. South Korea will not hesitate to blow torch an animal alive for better taste and some men and women laugh thinking the meat will make them better in the bedroom. Also is South Korea, Cat and puppies are put straight into Pressure cookers for ease to boil.

Friends, I am in shock as I read and write this.

Now For Vietnam – They have “End of lunar month festival “ and here dogs are beaten for fun, force-fed rice through tubes to increase weight and sales prices.

The Philippines has bans on dog meat if I read correctly, but regularly smuggles them in quietly by binding their muzzles, and tying their legs behind their back to stop movement. There is no air circulation for them.

Over to Indonesia and Thailand now. Many are served as fast food. These countries bag them up in sacks & bind necks into sacks, and then chucks them onto lorries in the heat.  Once the destination is reached, they will bind their feet to poles to fit them onto roof racks and carve slices off them cooked to order while alive.

Friends throughout many of these countries cat meat is believed to cure arthritis and make you nimble like a cat. It some parts like China again, it gives good energy and blood flow. Friends as I have read this and recorded this, I can say this is by far some of the most evil acts inflicted on animals I have ever heard of. The number of dogs and cats involved in these sick festivals is argued across a broad range. But its safe to say its in the ten of thousands.  And even if were just one, Sammy & Family would say that is one too many.

There was a time in history people thought it was OK to exterminate Jews, or rape & pillage black people, or slaughter American Indians, or Genocide in Rwanda, But it wasn’t OK, it was Never OK. The dogs and Cats of this evil trade are experiencing every bit of pain and anguish that the people felt, in the events listed above felt. And you know what? It’s not OK. No, it isn’t. I said this before on a video Dr. Harp Seal did on YouTube called “ Where is the Geneva Convention for Animals “ China your economy might be leading the world, but your acts of evil towards animals supersedes all the glory. It’s time to lead by example, not by tyranny.

Friends, Sammy & Family has met many people from Asian countries while they are in NYC. There is without question many Asian animal activists rising up against animal cruelty who are making a very big difference. This audio tonight is not to disrespect their valiant efforts.

Let’s remember Abraham Lincoln’s timeless quote; “ I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being”

To quote Dr. Harp Seal as well; “The path to a better world flows exclusively trough the humane treatment of all animals”

I will close with this, will the 21st century Abraham Lincoln please stand up. we need you.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed. Amen. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.
