Happy Birthday Sammy

Sammy turns 10 years old

Good morning friends.

We want to wish a Happy Birthday to Sammy, Deb Tsoi, Jessi Mantay and Stacy Shack.  #GoPisces.

It’s a very special day for Sammy & Family.  Sammy turns 10 years old today.  We wish him a fantastic day and many more birthdays to come.  I am going to share a little story of Sammy & I now.

So in 2004 I had a break up after a 5 year relationship.  I Was pretty down and out to say the least.  A few months later a friend of mine introduced me to this young gal from out of town.  Much younger then me, normally I never rolled that way.  But like I said, I was pretty down those days. Point being, I said to my friend, sure why not.  Turns out the young gal and I to some degree hit it off and went with it.  Within in a few months, she said to me, I saw a dog today on 13th street and 6th avenue and I want to bring him home.  Having grown up with dogs, I said absolutely yes.

The following day I had a 3 month old Pomeranian running around my apartment.  Life was good, kind of odd, but good. I would go to work and come home to this young gal pal living with me and a 3 Pound Pomeranian at the time.  Within a week I was so head over heals for this Pomeranian, I kind of forgot about the gal from Kentucky living with me.  She was nice, don’t get me wrong, but we had nothing in common.  She originally wanted to call our new dog; “Peanut”  I said no shot to that.  After all, despite being a Pomeranian and normally a girls dog, he was a boy.  So I named him Sammy and that was that.  Lol.  A few months later she moved out because she met some other guy, which I was cool with, it made a lot more sense then our relationship.

When she moved out I actually let her take Sammy with her.  A week later she shows up at my apartment in pretty bad shape, like I said, she was a young gal from Kentucky in a new city called New York City.  So she and Sammy came back to stay with me.  A month later she moved out again, only this time, I said Sammy stays with me.  No way was I letting Sammy go through that experience again.

Next thing I know I’m this 36 year old single guy running around the city with a 3 pound Pomeranian.  People would look at me like this guy must be out of his mind.  He’s a Wall Street Trader by day, and at night he’s a pedistrian on the street with tattoos and a miniature Pomeranian.  I didn’t care because we were like peas and carrots.  I was so crazy with him that when i went to work, I would make my mother drive in from Long Island, 20 miles away so he would not be alone.  When i would get back from work, I would say, Mom you can leave now, lol.

I’m going to be 46 in May.  Over the last 10 years, whenever I was at work, I either had my mother watching him, dog walkers looking after him, eventually Henry came into the picture and looked after him, I had girlfriends looking after him, friends, the doormen of buildings i lived, neighbors and so on and so on.

When I look back at my short time with Katie from Kentucky whom both of us had nothing in common with each other, I thank God she brought Sammy into my life.

I told you all the story of “Sammy Loves the World”   Well this story i just told was the Prequel to that.

If you think of the timeline of how Sammy came into my life, and all the news y’all saw in the media, to meeting Vanessa Martinez and Family on Instagram, to moving to Puerto Rico with Vanessa and her dad, and our 5 dogs, I can only say from experience, “You never know in life, stay open, stay focused and seek happiness”

Let me close with a play on words from a quote from the movie A River Runs Through it.  The quote is; “Eventually all things merge into one and a Sammy runs through it”

Happy birthday Sammy.  You are the greatest gift God has ever given me.  You made my life happy and complete.  And thanks to you, I have a new family and friends from all over the world.

Life is great today on March 14th, 2015.

Love always,  Scott Evan Smith
