Pigs Lives Matter

Pigs lives matter

Good evening friends.

Dr. Harp Seal here. We have an important message tonight. While I know this will not influence everyone, I sure hope it influences some.

Please consider giving up Pork. None of our appetites are important enough to inflict such suffering on animals. Please try Soy Dogs. They’re very tasty and more importantly, you will be sparing these beautiful animals from such pain. Pigs are as sweet, intelligent and loyal as dogs. Try to think of it those terms because that’s how it really is.

None of us can change everything, but everyone can change something. Leaving Pigs alone would be a great place to start. Let’s remember, all lives matter.

The Path to a better world flows through the Humane treatment of all animals. Without that, we have nothing.

Sincerely, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

A Tribute to a heroic dog named Harley

Puppy Mill Survivor Harley, passed on March 20th, 2016

Good evening friends.

Tonight we pay tribute to fallen angel named Harley. He passed away on March 20th, 2016. Folks as you know we have been writing about animals for the past 5 years. This is truly one of the most moving stories I’ve ever heard about.  I am really surprised I never caught wind of this the story until just two days ago. Harley was brought to my attention by our good friend Kathy Watson.

Harley was a puppy mill survivor. His function was to make babies and father them until they were sold and disbursed throughout the country. Harley lived in a cage at the Puppy Mill for 10 years before being tossed in a bucket to be disposed of after the mill had no more use for him. Harley knew of no other life other than living in a wired cage where no love or kindness was ever shown to him.

The wired cage was very hard on his feet too, despite him learning to live with it. That’s part of the reason he waked crookedly. Poor little guy. Luckily for Harley, a kind hearted lady who worked at the Puppy Mill noticed Harley had still been breathing in the bucket with other dead dogs. This decent lady picked him up out of the bucket and brought Harley to a local shelter.

Harley and Mom

Harley and his human mom, Rudy Taylor sharing a moment.

Once he was treated medically and on the mend, Rudy Taylor, Harley’s Human mom noticed a picture of this crooked one eyed little trooper and felt an instant connection.  Rudy knew he was meant to be with her and contacted the rescue organization immediately.  Next thing you know she drove a few states away from Colorado to pick Harley up and give him the best life possible. But make no mistake, Rudy and her husband knew they had a lot of hardships to unravel for Harley.

Harley had a lot of issues Post Puppy Mill: a diseased heart, a mouth filled with rot, a fused spine, a broken tail, gnarled toes, and legs that were deformed. And then there was the missing eye – the result of his cage being power-washed with him in it (an all too common practice in puppy mills). All of these conditions were the result of years of horrendous neglect and abuse.

Just to point out. Puppy mills can have up to 100 to 800 dogs. In order to clean the cages, many a times they power wash them with the dogs still in the cage. This is precisely how Harley lost one of his eyes. That is so barbaric and cruel, i cannot get over it.

I mean think of the road that that Harley endured, and then just tossed in a bucket to die. But Harley kept breathing and kept the faith. And miraculously made it to Colorado with Rudy and Dan Taylor where this little angel got a second chance at life. What a miracle this was and still is despite Harley’s recent passing.  When Rudy and Dan first rescued him, the vets said he had 3 months to live. Well with love, care and tenderness, Harley lived 5 more years and his story struck a chord with the world. Everyone that met Harley loved him.

Harley and Human Dad

Harley and his human Dad, Dan Taylor

Harley was so resilient to make it through ten years at the Puppy mill. When Harley was finally rescued, he was so grateful and forgiving.  That’s what is so amazing, he still manged to be grateful and forgiving.

Harley brought a massive amount of awareness to the dastardly acts of Puppy mills. He personally has participated in freeing more than 500 dogs in Puppy mills across the Midwest. Harley’s campaign “Harley to the Rescue” raised over $500,000 that helped to facilitate many rescue operations that saved many many dogs. The money also helped to educate children and adults about the horrors of Puppy mills.

As I am writing this i am in shock about Harley being thrown in a bucket and then going on to change the world as we know it. Not only by putting the spotlight on the horrors of Puppy Mills, but inspiring people with disabilities and imperfections like we all have, to illustrate that all of our lives are equally important. And that we all should treat other with respect and decency, no matter what shortcoming any of us have. Harley went on to win the “2015 American Hero Dog” which is the highest honor a dog can receive.  If you want to read more about Harley’s award, click link; http://harleypuppymilldog.com/ and scroll to the bottom of the home page.

When I think of puppy mills and the lives they create and sell for profits, I can’t believe this is legal. And how about the ones like Harley, who spend most of their lives in a cage, how can that be legal ?  Well here is how; Puppy Mills still exist because they are legal according to the USDA.  Dogs  are classified as livestock and therefor are allowed to remain living in cages.

As animal loving people just because laws allow this, we know people should NOT engage in this. To the people engaged in this line of work, you might be a law abiding citizen, but make no mistake, your character and moral fiber are deplorable.  Puppy Mills are every bit as evil as human trafficking, legal or not.  Demand for puppy’s does Not justify the continuance of this vicious cycle. Money is important in this life, we all know that. But not this important. Absolutely not. No amount of money is worth the kind of hell puppy mills dogs have to endure.  This is a question of people’s character, not money.

I encourage everyone to watch this 4 minute video about Harley the Emerging Hero DogThis is the kind of message that could really change the way we look at life. It’s truly one of the most inspiring videos I’ve ever seen.

To Rudy and Dan Taylor, thank you for extending your hand to Harley. That gesture allowed Harley to light up the world with love and kindness.

Harley, thank you for making the world a better place.  Rest in peace sweet angel.

No lives will go in Vain. No pain will go unnoticed. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Happy National Dog Day

Nicholas from NYC leads us out for National Dog Day tonight

Good evening friends  We have a very special visitor leading us out tonight for “National Dog Day”  — This is our great friend Nicholas from NYC.  His human dad’s name is Jim, also a great friend to Sammy & Family.

Nicholas is one of the sweetest dogs in all of NY.  He is exceptionally smart and happy. Nicholas has been making people smile from all over the world the last couple of years.  Its no wonder why either, Jim loves his boy more than anything.

Nicholas is also a beacon for animal kindness.  Jim and his boy have been very active participants in animal welfare.  Its an honor to have they leading us out tonight.

We hope that all dogs around the world had a happy National Dog Day today. Lord knows they all deserve it.  Sadly we know its not the case for too many of them.  Lets keep their well being in our thoughts and prayers.

With that friends we are going to call  it a night.  We want to thank Jim and Nicholas for joining a tonight.  Its always nice to be surrounded by animal loving friends.

Signing off from Puerto Rico on day 227, Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.

This One’s for you Cecil

Rest in Peace Cecil

Good evening friends.

Sammy & Family pays our respects to the beloved lion Cecil, who was heinously killed about two days ago in Zimbabwe. The  heartless murderer was Dr. Walter Palmer is who a dentist from Minnesota. Dr. Palmer paid $55,000, yes, 55k to track down Cecil and kill him with a bow and arrow.  Cecil was a protected lion in Hwange National Park which apparently Dr. Walter Palmer lured her out of with dead meats where Cecil then became exposed.

Now before we get into this whole story of Cecil and trophy hunting, or any hunting for that matter, I wanted to just cover a few things.  I never got the memo that said people can play God or Mother Nature with respect to what animals live and which animals die, and by what numbers.  Another thing I have said many times is, the only thing is means that people are smarter then animals, is that people are smarter then animals.  It doesn’t mean anything else.  The same is to say if someone is smarter than me, does that give the right to punch me or something ?

Let me break down what “Hunting for Sport” means and doesn’t mean.  You see the term in itself is inaccurate because the word; “Sport’ is in it.  Now last I checked in sports you need two consenting parties to agree to go up against one another.  So lets eradicate the word “Sport” because I am 100 percent certain that animals do not want to participate in this sport.  So that leaves us with downright murder.  To me all hunting is murder.  But for the purposes of this post lets isolate Trophy hunting.  Wait, you know, lets add “Canned Hunting” as well into this post.  Canned hunting is when facilitates keep exotic and majestic animals in a confined area to make sure the hunters get their kill.  Possibly the most abusive form of murder in all of hunting.

Back to Dr. Walter Palmer, the dentist from Minnesota.  To him Cecil was just another kill.  He was an avid hunter and murdered approximately 50 majestic animals over the years.  It appears this murder of Cecil might have been illegal. Cecil was in a protected park and it believe that Dr. Palmer lured her out of the protection zone she can become an eligible kill.  What a classy guy, huh ?  A real gentleman.   He has stated it was a legal kill but it looks like it might Not have been.

Now that brings me to this word called “Semantics”  —  The  fact that a kill is legal or illegal does not change the reality of your action, you still committed a murder.  The defenseless animal has no idea about the laws, he just knows he is painfully dying now with no regard for his life. The same is to say it’s legal to walk around calling people _ssholes all day, but its now right, so we don’t.  But brutally killing and Maiming animals if its legal, no problem, bring it on like football, just another American Pastime.

Many of you know I did a video message called; “The Second Amendment from the Perspective of Animal” on You-tube. The link will be at bottom of this post.  And without getting into the political debate about guns, let me point out that animals are not mentioned in The Second Amendment but they sure are taking the brunt of it by far over anyone else. Most people hide behind The Second Amendment’s original meaning to engage in the thrill of the kill of animals. Video link is below to hear more.

If you listen to this message, you will Never be confused about why this country and other countries of course are so obsessed with guns. If you think its the whole “The Right to Bear Arms” to protect yourself, you are standing upside down.  That is Not even close to the real reason, not even close.  If you want to know further, please watch and listen to that video message below.

Now unfortunately, Dr. Walter Palmer is just one of thousands of people who enjoy killing beautiful creatures.  So does this media frenzy against this Dr. Palmer, the dastardly murderer prevent others from this deplorable pastime, ? I honestly am not sure.  Does it prevent these murderers from smiling in pictures with their cowardly kills ?  Hell yeah. But does that really help the animals, not in my opinion, people will just do it smarter and quieter.

We are in the year 2015, the evidence on animals being sentient beings is a fact and has been clear for a long time now. If people are still out there like the Dr. Palmers, and the Ted Nugents knowing this, they’re bad people. Its simple math. When I was on Wall Street for many years i had seen several people pay to go kill bears in Canada and or Alaska. I mean think of how bored you must be with your life if you need to do that.  Maybe they should make a change in their life, or get a new wife.  But for God sake man, for the love of God, stop killing these animals.  Mother Nature is tough enough on them.  The last thing animals need is for “Man” to keep stacking the deck even further against them.

I must even say I recently saw an interview with Tom Brokaw who was plugging his news book.  Yes, Tom Brokaw the legendary news anchorman. During the interview he spoke so cavalierly about him and his hunting buddies, and who had a good shot and who did not.  Like just a couple of guys laughing,  drinking beers and blowing animals heads off.  So despite Tom’s stature and all his elegance, Sammy & Family kind of sees him like others mentioned in this post.  I’m sure in the minority in that opinion, but we’re OK with that.

Remember friends, this land is their land, this land is our land, this land is made for them and us. Together we stand, divided we fall. The path to a better world flows through the humane treatment of all animals.  Animal equality is a tireless journey, there will be no retreat.  Below are 3 video and or audio links I did in regards to a lot of what’s mentioned in this post.

Rest in Peace Cecil.  No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed.  Amen. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family. Videos and Audios below.

Hydration

Hydration

Good morning friends.  Another gift today on July 24th, 2015.  Good, bad or indifferent its great to be alive today. And besides, its Friday, that’s a win right there in itself.

Sammy came by to wish everyone a great today and to remind everyone to stay hydrated.  Drinking water is so easy and yet I personally am always challenged to stay hydrated.  Its like showering, I know i have to do it, but i hate it, lol.

OK, lets kick this Friday off with two positive notions;

1. After a long week of work it can be nice to rest on a Friday night. There is no obligation with the universe to beat the hell out of yourself on a Friday night. Took me many many years to learn that one. In fact ou never have to beat the hell out of yourself. Took me a couple of more years to learn that one too.

2. Rescuing a dog, cat and / or pet is the most rewarding thing individuals or families can do on any given day and at any given time. Your life will instantly have a higher sense of purpose. You will be saving a life, and they will bring immediate happiness to your life.  Win – Win

Have a great Friday everyone.  Day 194 here in Puerto Rico.  See you tonight.  I have reluctantly go take a shower now :)

Sincerely, Scott Evan Smith

The Memo from God and Mother Nature

I never got the memo that we can play God or Mother Nature with respect to what animals live and which die, and by what numbers.

Good evening friends. We hope everyone had a happy Poppy Tuesday.  Life was good today on July 21st, 2015, it didn’t have to be that way.  Thank God that it is.

You know we have been doing different kind of posts at night and such, I want to promise all our animal loving friends, we never take our eye off the injustices inflicted on our animal friends around the world.  When the time is right I will hit those topics hard like I did with “Where Is the Geneva Convention for Animals?”  — Or “The Second Amendment from the Perspective of an Animal” and many, many more on Youtube and SoundCloud.

At the same token, in conveying our messages for the animals with no voice to defend themselves, Sammy & Family is not here to bring our animal loving friends from around the world down. So its a pick and choose your battles kind of things.  Having said that, animal equality, kindness, rescue and welfare remain the forefront of our voice.

Remember, the only thing it means that people are smarter than animals, is that people are smarter than animals, it means nothing more.  I would love to see the memo or email from God or Mother Nature that says we can decide which animals live and die and by which numbers.  I was never CC’ed on that.  Yes I know, I will check spam.

OK friends, lets close tonight with two messages for our animals friends all over the world.

1. The path to a better world flows through the humane treatment of all animals.

2. Rescuing an animal and bringing them into your home presents such a higher sense of purpose like some have never experienced.  You will be saving a life, and they will make your life.  We call that a Win, Win.

Friday Always Comes Right on Time

Friday always comes on time

Good evening friends.

Day 55 here in Puerto Rico.  Today was a really nice day on many fronts.  The reason I count the days is not to bore you my friends, it helps me stay in the day.  When Scott, the 45 year old kid starts veering from the day, difficulties start to arise.  With that said, Life was good today.

Tomorrow we’re having Sammy groomed for his big 10th birthday bash on March 14th.  I will put together a really nice story for the little Prince.

Weekend or not, Sammy & Family prays for animals to have easier paths in this life.  It’s hard to bear knowing day in and day out they have the same struggles with no reprieve.  The world can be really hard on them, let’s keep them in our thoughts.  Life can be so grand, but its not as sweet without animals feeling the joy as well.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed.  Amen.  Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Print Money for the Animals and then Print more

Print Money for animals

Good evening friends.

Well its Wednesday night and that means i can be a little more aggressive with tonight’s post. Have no fear, nothing R rated. I put a post on Dr. Harp Seal’s Facebook Page  today that I want to share tonight with some additions.  Below is the post from today;

“Any agencies or rescue centers euthanizing animals with gas chambers should not be considered a rescue center. Using gas to put down animals is anything but humane.

If states are underfunded, print the money like we do for everything else. Print it. Who cares ? The world does it for wars, stock markets and so on and so on.  If we run out of ink, buy more cartridges, if the printing machines break, build new ones, but just keep on printing”

Additions below, very good stuff, please read on;

Central banks spend trillions of dollars, yes trillions buying equities, bonds, currencies and so and so on to stabilize markets.  The financial times wrote an article about this last year.  The point being is Central Banks are a major reason, if not the main reason for the rise in equity prices the past few years. Let me repeat, trillions and trillions they spend and invest. Where do they get a lot of that money ? They print it.  Costs and expenses are meaningless if you can just keep printing.   Grant it that dilutes the value of your dollar, but that argument is long gone, nobody cares. I’m not even going to judge it at this point.

What I want to shout to the world is if Central Banks are basically rigging markets with all this printing going on; we should never have to hear that Animal Control Centers, or the Aspca or politically run Rescue Centers use gas chambers to kill animals because its cheaper. The Germans said the same thing in World War 2.  I’m sure we all read about Auschwitz.  The Nazis had it down to a science.  Well the same thing is happening to animals right under our noses here in the 21st Century.

So again, costs and expenses are meaningless, why ?  Because of the printing presses.  So I say, print and print away, and when we’re done printing, print some more.  Sounds reckless right ? Easy money policy around the globe is doing this right now and has been doing it for years. So print for a humane reason.  Print money for the  animals because they’re worth it.

And one political remark, when people say; “How is America going to pay for Obamacare?”  You guessed it, Print, who cares ? Again, we print for wars, stock markets, and anything and everything else.

For God’s sake, print money for the animals.  In the words of AC/DC; ♫♫♫ Come on, come on, listen to the money talk ♫♫♫

The Kolb Crew Leads us out Tonight

Janice Kolb and Crew

Good evening friends.

Tonight we have the Kolb crew leading us out.  These four beauties are members of our very dear friend Janet Knecht Kolb and family.  Janice is from Mississippi and is a major friend to the animals.  She visited Sammy & Family while she was in NYC.  When Vanessa and her met her, I told her she is my first friend from Mississippi, that’s not a crack on her hometown, more to the fact that I never left NY.  It was our pleasure to make her acquaintance.  So let’s hear what Janice has to say about her crew here;

The very large brown boy is KoKo. He is 8 years old and the “Daddy” of the Krew. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He was an only child for 7 years. The white female is Mahlee. She is a 3 year old re-home that came to me in Feb. 2014. She is a diva princess and rules the roost.

The little apricot boy is Kleiner Bruder ( German for “little brother”). I always promised KoKo a little brother so that’s why I named him that since the previous owner didnt name him. He is was about 1 year old when rescued January 2014 according to my Vet. He is from the hills of Kentucky. He was abused and neglected for the first year of his life and finally rescued by 2 wonderful women in his town. They contacted me and I fell  in love. He has been such a joy. He is smaller than he should be because he was crated in a puppy crate his whole first year and as he grew he was unable to even stand up. He has so much love to give and has come from being scared of everyone and everything ( he was scared of his water bowl) to being one spunky, loving, precious little boy.

The skinny brown boy is Kwinn Koen. He was surrendered to our local kill shelter in July 2014. The shelter contacted a local rescue that a friend of mine runs and she called me to see if I knew of anyone that could foster him till they could adopt him out. He was such a mess that you really couldn’t tell he was a Standard Poodle. His eyes were almost matted shut from infection, he smelled so bad that it made me physically ill and his ears were very infected. I fostered and then adopted him in Aug. 2014. He turns 3 on March 5. His name was Superman but he didn’t seem real attached to that so I renamed him Kwinn Koen. He has blossomed big time and has become Kleiner Bruders best friend. Those 2 rescue boys have so much energy and play nonstop.  That is the Kolb Krews story. They each have very different personalities but love each other very much. I love them all.

Janice that'[s an incredible story.  What a great full family you have.  Its like the saying goes; who rescued who ?  We can all relate to that.

Sammy & Family would like to thank Janice for making the world a better place 4 animals at a time.  God Bless.
