Poppy Rocky Tuesday on April 5th, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Try to remember, if the Pops and Rocky can make it, anyone can.

I find Tuesday’s to have a great sense of Zeal to them. Its very refreshing. Its like we are on an upswing or something, and that’s good.

So being we are on a upswing, lets start the day with two Positive notions;

1. Let’s be open to a great day. Today is a gift and could have a lot in store for us.

2. If we do one thing today that we have been avoiding, but we know we have to, tomorrow we will feel very good about it.

Day 449 here in Puerto Rico, and day 139 since we rescued Rocky.  That’s pretty cool, right ?  See you tonight friends. Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.

A personal message from Scott Smith and Dr. Harp Seal

A personal message from Scott Smith on Gratitude

Good evening friends.

It’s great to be alive on November 5th, 2015.  Good, bad or indifferent, today is a gift.  Many people that were here yesterday are no longer with us.  We have to remember that.  A lot of people pass on each day that wanted to live.  We owe it to them and ourselves to live this life as best we can.

In recovery I was taught what gratitude means.  Whether you had those kind of problems or not, living a grateful life is an open invitation for all to enjoy.  Again, I used to think that life was a series of losses and then you die. Now I know life is a series of experiences and then you grow.

Had I not gotten into alcohol and substances, I would’ve never gone into recovery and learned what happiness means.  I would have just kept being miserable whether I was sober or not.  The good news is that its not a prerequisite to get into the trouble I did to be free. You don’t have beat the hell out of yourself to realize whats important.

Things can always be better, things can always be worse. The question is; “What am I grateful today?” — Whoever those people were that told me life is better with the glass half full, than half empty, you were dead right.  Nobody needs to give themselves a beat down with alcohol and drugs to understand that. Just accept it as a truth, and a fact from a person who has made more mistakes than 1000 people put together.

The Soldier of Love came to say goodnight

Henry-October-27-2015

Good evening friends.

Tonight “The Soldier of Love” came to say goodnight.  We hope everyone had a nice Tuesday.  It great to be here with everyone tonight, I know I sound repetitive always saying that, but I’m always feeling that.

There are so many topics we need to cover in regards to the plight of animals.  We have done some heavy pieces before as you know.  The one topic I keep shying away from is the situation in Taiji Japan with the slaughtering of dolphins.  I am committed to doing an elaborate piece on this topic in the next two weeks. I will put together an audio and text if you prefer to read it.  And if its something you want to just to take a pass on, I understand.  Some of these realities are too much to hear about.

From Sammy & Family’s perspective, to learn about it and understand what is happening to these dolphins is a small price to pay for the horrors of what they endure.  As for Sammy & Family, life can be incredible and enriching, but all species need to participate in safe living and the fruits of the Earth for us to feel the true bliss of life.

All for one and one for all.  This land is their land, this land is our land, this land is made for them and us.

Lets close with two Notions for animals.

1.  “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  — Mahatma Ghandi —

2. “The Path to a better world flows through the Humane treatment of all Animals”  — Without that, we have nothing.   — Dr. Harp Seal —

I’ve been alive forever and I Wrote the very first Song

SCOTT Y SAMMY ROCK CENTER 2

Good evening friends.

Its great to be here with everyone tonight on October 26th, 2015.

I am going to sing some Barry Manilow to my little boy.  ♫♫♫ My home lies deep within you and I’ve got my own place in your soul. Now when I look out through your eyes, I’m young again, even thought I’m very old  ♫♫♫

Thank you Sammy for lighting my life again and giving me purpose.  Just like Mohammad Ali shook up the world in 1964 against Sonny Liston, Sammy shook up the world the past 5 years.  He may not be as renown but he has lifted spirits all over the world.

If you never heard the story of “Sammy Loves the Word”  — It his highly recommended.  Here’s link; https://soundcloud.com/dr-harp-seal/the-story-of-sammy-loves-the-world

Let’s close with two positive notions;

1. I’m taking it day to day.  I want to be in each day as that is the only place I’m actually in.

2. Everyday we are born again, what we do today matters most.   — Buddha —

Mom and Sammy waiting for the Subway

Grandma Jo-Ann and Sammy waiting for the subway

Good evening friends.   It’s great to be here with everyone tonight.  Life was good today on June 4th, 2015.  It didn’t have to be that way, thank God that it is.

This is Sammy and Grandma Jo-Ann waiting for the subway together.  Sammy caught Grandma Jo-Ann in one of her preoccupied states.  He reminded her, the only thing going on in her life right now was that they were waiting for the subway together.  The thoughts in her mind are just thoughts, they are not living.

Sammy loves the subways, you know why ?  Because he has no clue what stop they are getting off, but he knows its going to be an adventure.   There are two kinds of people in the world as an example.  Let’s say you go to the beach with your family, Sammy will charge into the water and accept the adventure that is sprung upon him.  Then there are people like my mother, that will walk near the water, maybe let a little of the water hit one of her toes and pull back and not return to the water all day.  Its not to say one style is better then the other, the real question about this picture is, why is my mother Jo-Ann Santoro Smith wearing a baseball hat, and carry another baseball hat in her hand ?

OK, lets close out with two positive notions tonight.

1. I fee like some people at work are jerks to me, I am glad I’m aware of that because there are other people at work that appear to be friendlier.  So instead of swimming upstream, I will swim with the flow and hang with the friendlier people.

2. God willing i wake up tomorrow, because if I do, I’m going to do the things that i wished I always did.  Its never to late to start anything.  That applies to even being a kid.  I grew up very fast.  And now at 46 I am a kid.  Some people say; “sorry Scott, your childhood is over”  — and they are entitled to that opinion.  And I am entitled to my opinion which is this, I never got be a kid, so now in my forties I’ve become a kid.  Who’s to say that is right or wrong.

Goodnight friends.  Signing off from Puerto Rico on day 144, Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.  Yes, I got a 960 on my SAT’s and graduated 8th from the last in my senior year of high school.

Love always, Scott Evan Smith :)

Make the world a better place for animals and people

Better world for you and me

Hi friends how are you ?

It’s great to be here with everyone.  Thanks to all of you, my family and our 5 dogs my loneliness levels are the lowest they’ve ever been.

We hope everyone had a nice Wednesday today.  A couple of you have mentioned to me you have plans to come to Puerto Rico in the next six months or so.   We’re very excited to hear that, and of course we will meet anyone who wants to see Sammy & Family during your stay in Puerto Rico, its our pleasure.

A couple of things went right today, a couple of things could’ve gone better, so be it, God willing I and we get another shot at life tomorrow.  We see a lot of overwhelming things in the media day in and day out, it can be very discouraging knowing there is not much we can do about so much of it.  But we have to remember, if each one of us does a little or gives the best efforts we can, then we have made the world a better place for other people, animals, and ourselves.

When i think of it in those terms the world is less overwhelming to me.  Additionally it puts things into perspective so i can realize my efforts did make a substantial difference in the lives of others, and that is how the world can change.

Sheila and Sammy

Sammy's new friend Sheila

Good morning friends,

Happy morning to you.  This is our new friend Sheila we met while we were waltzing around.  It’s always nice meeting new people.  You can tell Sheila is very good with animals.  The moment she spotted Sammy and I walking, she pulled the car over to come meet him.  This was a real treat for Sammy, he loves to make new friends.

And with that, we wish everyone a wonderful Saturday.

Kelly and Patreeko Came to Say Goodnight

Kelly and Patrick came to say goodnight

Good evening friends.

It’s Great to be here with you all tonight.  Kelly and Patrick wanted to come say goodnight.  These two are like little lovebirds at this point.  Its nice to seem them getting along so well.  They are the same age so it kind of makes sense. I hope everyone enjoyed the Penguin story today.

I was blown away when i read it and immediately reached out to the Penguin Foundation in Australia.  They were really nice and sent me some information so i could write a nice story about them.  I always loved Penguins, its odd we never discuss them on this page.  But they really are incredible little creatures.  They are so interesting how they live and operate.

So tomorrow we have a world class video on aviation coming out. Yes aviation.

See you in the morning friends.  Signing off from Puerto Rico on day 74, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Happy Birthday Sammy

Sammy turns 10 years old

Good morning friends.

We want to wish a Happy Birthday to Sammy, Deb Tsoi, Jessi Mantay and Stacy Shack.  #GoPisces.

It’s a very special day for Sammy & Family.  Sammy turns 10 years old today.  We wish him a fantastic day and many more birthdays to come.  I am going to share a little story of Sammy & I now.

So in 2004 I had a break up after a 5 year relationship.  I Was pretty down and out to say the least.  A few months later a friend of mine introduced me to this young gal from out of town.  Much younger then me, normally I never rolled that way.  But like I said, I was pretty down those days. Point being, I said to my friend, sure why not.  Turns out the young gal and I to some degree hit it off and went with it.  Within in a few months, she said to me, I saw a dog today on 13th street and 6th avenue and I want to bring him home.  Having grown up with dogs, I said absolutely yes.    Continue reading

The Best Things In Life are Free

The Best Things In Life are Free

Good morning friends.

Sammy loves to be high up on my shoulders.  He’s only one foot tall, so he’s always looking up. This is his “View from the top” so to speak, or his “SUV”(riding on a truck) position.

Tall, medium or short, his zeal for life is unprecedented.  He’s taught me a lot in that way.  When Sammy is out and about, he’s happy.  That’s all it take, nothing more.  Why is that ?  Its because just like the slogan says; “The best things in life are free”

Happy Saturday.
